Known throughout the world as the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Manchester has a proud history in science, politics, music, arts and sport.  Now you can discover much of that history from the top deck of a bus.

The green Sightseeing Manchester hop-on, hop-off open top bus tour takes you on a 90-minute trip around the Manchester city centre and the modern waterfront developments at Salford Quays.  There are 15 stops, with the route carefully planned to take you round some of Manchester's key sights.

The bright yellow boat seats 11 people and links Spinningfields in central Manchester with Salford Quays, Greater Manchester's exciting waterfront destination.

During the 20-minute journey along the River Irwell and the historic Manchester Ship Canal you'll see the striking Trinity Bridge, George Stephenson's 1830 railway bridge and the old Granada TV Studios (once home to the TV programme Coronation Street). You'll also see Pomona Locks, Ordsall Hall and Old Trafford Football Ground, home to Manchester United.

At Salford Quays the 'Waxi' drops off and picks up at MediaCityUK, home to the BBC and ITV in the north of England.  It's a short walk to the Imperial War Museum North, and to The Lowry, a theatre, shopping and arts hub with the L.S. Lowry Gallery, cafes, restaurants, bars and many designer shops.

Salford Quays & MediaCityUK: Take time to explore Salford Quays. FREE admission to the famous L.S. Lowry Art Gallery and the Imperial War Museum North.  Admire the glass and steel buildings of MediaCityUK, home to the BBC and ITV in the north of England.  Enjoy great shopping and a wide choice of restaurants and designer shops in the Lowry Outlet Mall.

Timings

Tours are available Tuesday to Saturday at 11.30am, 1.30pm & 3.30pm. Sunday 11.30am & 1.30pm.

A tour will typically take between 60 - 75 minutes, followed by beer sampling. 

How to get to Stockport

Trains run regularly between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport (Journey approx 10 minutes). It takes 25-30 minutes to drive to Stockport from Manchester city centre.

Accessibility: Please be aware that the Brewery Tour is around a working traditional tower brewery and as such involves steep stairways and some narrow walkways. Unfortunately, the Brewery Tour is not Wheelchair assessable. Induction Loops are available, Please ask at the front reception and switch Hearing Aids to the ‘T’ position to use this facility.  Please wear suitable shoes (avoid open toe shoes, heels and flip flops)

This tour is only suitable for over 18's, Please bring I.D.

The ultimate alternative for Match day travel to Old Trafford, without the hassle of traffic and parking. The Princess Katherine picks you up 1 hour before from ‘Ralli Quay’ opposite Spinningfields in Manchester’s city centre and drops you off five minutes’ walk of Old Trafford. The journey takes just half an hour, enough time to relax with a cold beer or two from the fully stocked bar before you get to the game. At the end of the match the Princess Katherine leaves from Trafford Wharf 20 minutes after the final whistle.  See our website for dates, Match tickets not included.

The Princess Katherine: A modern sightseeing boat with indoor and outdoor seating for 90 persons. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic refreshments are available onboard. Not suitable for disabled and wheelchair users.

DEPARTURE AND BOARDING POINTS

Departure time is 1 hour before kick off from Ralli Quay which is in front of the VAT building on Stanley Street. At the end of the match the Princess Katherine leaves from Trafford Wharf 20 minutes after the final whistle. The boat will leave promptly to make sure we arrive back to make your train connections.
